Pros: I worked at Adaptive Insights Business Unit, which was once a quirky startup with poker tables, a band that played every so often, and parties for every holiday imaginable. There was a forward-thinking idea of pushing better tools to produce software. There were incentives to stick around while Workday absorbed the business unit.

Cons: The unit has changed into a large corporate structure where OKRs (organizational key results) rule supreme. Middle managers weaponize OKRs for their personal gains. Middle managers are constantly looking for scapegoats, shifting blame and unwanted OKRs to other teams. The business unit constantly misses targets and therefore applies incredible pressure to the teams. Poor communication amongst managers, the constant need to fulfill one manager's requirements while another is upset that you are unable to fulfill their requirements. Managers publicly insult other teams. The software code is incredibly poorly written, with numerous security holes and the use of very old software. Imagine working with very old-school engineers who don't care to improve the setup, nor are they really helping you to do your job. If you are planning to do work here, most likely these engineers will sit around and attempt to criticize whatever work you do in an attempt to maintain relevance.

Pros: Great work culture. Good pay.

Cons: No remote option. Strict in-office rules.

Pros: It used to be a good place to work, but it really went downhill in recent years.

Cons: The most incompetent management I have ever experienced in my career. A lot of micromanagement, no strategy, nor clear goals communicated. Most managers are a bunch of yes men. Promotions and rewards are purely based on social circles. If you are not based in the US, or you are not Irish, you can forget any promotion or career path. Performances are not evaluated (this is also a consequence of the lack of goals for teams and individuals). A lot of nepotism. Workload is not equally distributed, and you can have people charged with up to three times the workload assigned to others in the same role. No training. Forget about learning new skills at work; you will learn how to code in XO, which is a proprietary language with no value outside Workday. Salary is subpar compared to other big companies. There is also a new policy to reduce salaries for workers not based in the US, purely based on market average salary, regardless of performance or cost of living. I am not sure if this is in line with their claimed Equal Opportunities, as it's like exploiting a market pay gap to their own advantage. What's the next step: officialize the exploitation of other pay gaps?
