Good work, Free food, Decent package, Employee benefits are good. Good people around.
Under the new management, there is no vision for IDC. The first step towards that was laying off the entire TA team. Now they are moving all work from India to the US. I'm not sure what work would remain in India. From the past 4/5 years, they have had layoffs, but this time there will be a massive headcount reduction. Even if you survive layoffs for some reason, there is the concept of QPR, where managers are forced by upper management to give fewer ratings. Because of which, internal politics will be there. In the name of QPR, they laid off so many people. I still thought to stay back at Yahoo! as I haven't completed 1 year at Yahoo!. Let me talk about my journey in Yahoo!. I joined Yahoo! in June. In the month of Oct/Nov, I had a 1-on-1 with my manager. He says, "Please start looking out." I was shocked and asked him why. He says the team is moving from India to the US. Since I haven't completed a year in Yahoo!, he can't transfer me to the US. I asked him about an internal team transfer. He says it's not possible. I started looking for an internal team transfer and a job search outside. The next week, my manager comes back and says, "I am transferring you to the US. Please stop your job search." Again, the next week, he says, "Start searching outside." I started searching for an internal team transfer. Luckily, I found some openings. But the new team manager says there is no vision for this division after 1 quarter. I can't promise anything. About my QPR, my manager writes in QPR, "My biggest weakness is I should handle org restructuring smoothly, even if there were so many confusions." --> How funny is that
Yes, finally I reached my goal. I completed a year and moved out of Yahoo!. Yes, for sure, I must say I learned a lot from Yahoo!. How to have patience in life. :)Please don't hire people if you want to fire them. It would be very hard for people to convince why job search is less than 1 year.
The interview process began with a first-round telephone call, which was a general discussion with some easy technical questions. Afterward, I was informed there would be another telephone round. It was scheduled, but then the HR representative calle
The recruiter, or sometimes the engineering manager, will contact you and schedule the interview. The interviewers sometimes have an interview and don't realize their feedback is considered. Yahoo hiring has so much politics. It's not the same comp
I interviewed with a different department at Yahoo in the past, and this experience was equally frustrating. The interview itself was not particularly difficult; however, communication from the recruiter was spotty. Shortly after the virtual onsite
