The initial tech call consisted of a single problem-solving exercise. The problem seemed unreal for any practical position, being a purely theoretical algorithm. Not that I dislike those, but if you're supposed to write APIs, it's unclear why this field wasn't touched upon at all, and only red-black trees were the subject of the interview.
