I was contacted by the Zendesk recruiter over LinkedIn.
They set up an interview for me on-site after a phone screening with the team lead.
I was asked the usual skill questions: "How do you rate yourself on Ruby/Bash?" etc.
The on-site interview was about 4 hours. I met with 4 different groups from the tools and DevOps team.
Basic questions included: "Write me a filesystem monitor in Bash."
Architecture questions for scaling MySQL over multiple datacenters.
Write a Chef recipe from scratch.
Parse XML in Ruby.
Once the technical interviews were over, I met with a director who pretty much laid out the fact they would be making me an offer. I had the offer the very next day.
Writing a chef recipe from memory.
