Software Development Engineer Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington
Process
I applied online and received a HackerRank challenge within 2 days. The recruiter then scheduled a phone interview 5 days after I completed the challenge. The phone interview went well, and 5 days after that, I received an invitation to fly to Seattle for an onsite interview. Zillow provided everything for the trip, including a very nice stay at a top-notch hotel.
On the day of the interview, the first interviewer was excited and ready to go from the start. After three rounds of 45-minute interviews, I was greeted by another friendly recruiter who went over the next steps in detail. Six days after the onsite interview, I received a phone call from the friendly recruiter with happy results! :)
Overall, I would have liked to intern at Zillow, as they offer a multitude of internship opportunities. They have over 28 different software development intern teams to choose from, the pay is plentiful ($42/hour), and they provide free housing located right in front of their office.
However, I decided to take another offer that provided me an East Coast experience, as I've stayed on the West Coast for far too long.
I will definitely be coming back to apply for a full-time position!

We have a really efficient operations team that makes this happen (they can be a little stubborn at times, but they need to keep Zillow running -- understandable). That means no on-call for developers.Cons: Mostly due to the flat organizational structure, it's hard to see clear career progression.

Their bosses were unwilling or unable to recognize the problems and take corrective action before these people "poisoned" the company and the culture.
