Pros
  • The learning curve is steep. You will learn a lot quickly.
  • There is scope to get your hands dirty with the latest tech.
  • You have the chance to work with multiple real-life challenging problems.
Cons
  • Work-life balance takes a hit due to late-night deployments.
  • You will be expected to work from 10 am to 11 pm.
  • Most of the leadership (managers/VPs) are not approachable.
  • There are very tight deadlines, with product/stakeholder teams breathing down your neck most of the time.
  • They foster a culture where fresh grads are lured in with hefty compensations and trained to work in a culture having minimal interaction with life outside work, so they get used to it.
  • Leadership is not open to feedback.
Advice to Management

Engineering team culture could improve vastly.

  • Try to foster a culture where engineers can at least approach leadership in case of issues (both related to office and personal life, if required).
  • Try getting active feedback from former employees, rather than avoiding exit interviews where leadership might get called upon.
