Pros

You get to work with the best minds in India.

Competitive salary (depends on your negotiation skills).

Fine for freshers (not good, just ok).

Zomato tag.

Speed matters a lot here.

You'll be impacting millions of Indians.

In-house gym.

In-house coffee machine (yep, it seems a big deal now).

The company was good till a year back; recent layoffs and upper management (only CEO is left) leaving the org has ruined things (as of Dec 2022).

There are still a handful of good people left in the company; pray that you land up in their team.

Tech stack is modern.

Cons
  • Lot of politics; be your manager's favorite if you want to survive.
  • You'll keep on doing the same thing again and again. Not for people who love computer science/engineering.
  • There's no clarity around career growth.
  • No WFH.
  • Forget work-life balance.
  • Forget public holidays, as this is a hospitality business, so it will be expected that you will work on New Year's, India vs. Pak matches, Diwali, Holi, etc.
  • No perks whatsoever. No, you don't get Zomato coupons.
  • Upper and middle management have left the company. You tell me why?
  • Your experience really depends on your team. Having worked with the "best" team over here, it has mostly been a disappointment.
  • Lack of designers; just compare it with Swiggy and you'll know.
  • Micromanagement to an insane level.
  • An organization should be open to mistakes, but nowadays, if you make any mistake here, you'll have to publicly apologize to everyone. I don't know where this org is heading.

This org was never like this. Sadly, good managers have slowly been leaving the company, which has led to incapable people getting to steer the ship. I came as a fresher, but I'm planning to leave this mess now.

Advice to Management

Please hire experienced managers. Let me repeat myself: Don't hire good senior engineers, hire managers. There's a difference.
