Lots of free time. Very relaxed management. Free lunch on some days. No layoffs! Yet...
Lots of tech debt, constantly needing to fix things. If you're an experienced engineer, expect to work on stabilizing whatever product you're working on. I had to do that for the first three months I was here. Oh, and you get no credit whatsoever for doing that, but oh well. Not the best engineering culture I've worked in, but it's changing... slowly. Lots of turnover in engineering; smart engineers keep leaving regularly.
All things considered, I think management does a pretty solid job. The problems that exist on the engineering side can almost always be attributed to growing pains. ZI is really 6 or 7 companies that have been mashed together in the past 6 years, which means there are multiple tech stacks and a lack of standardization across the board. The problems are being worked on, and assuming the company survives the coming headwinds (which every SaaS company is fearing right now), I think it could become a great place to work.
I had to complete a rapid-fire behavioral and IQ-style assessment. The platform they used gave me between 15 and 45 seconds to answer each brainteaser, then immediately moved on to the next one. For my coding challenge, I had to answer two LeetCode-
The interview process was very positive. The interviewers described everything beforehand, and the whole process was very clear. Finally, I had another proposal, so I had to decline. The entire process was online.
Very good and professional. Communication was excellent throughout the process, and I was put at ease during the interview despite having some learning difficulties. It was all online and professionally managed end to end.
