Process

I applied for the Software Engineer-Microservices position.

I am a PhD Candidate, planning to graduate in December 2022.

The manager spoke with me about the position and my interest, as well as some technical questions related to microservice architecture.

After that, I had two technical interviews (microservices and Java). The feedback from both interviewers was positive.

The next interview was with the Engineering VP. It was more informal. The feedback from the VP was also positive.

The manager wanted to meet again to confirm my interest in the position. They had concerns that I might leave the company after six months of joining because I have a PhD degree. I clarified everything.

They agreed and offered me the job. We had a salary negotiation, which was approved.

The recruiter confirmed that the offer was official and that they were processing the offer letter.

I had other job offers and ongoing interviews. I declined them because I wanted to focus on finishing my PhD.

Two days later, the recruiter informed me that they would not offer me the job because a higher authority felt I was not a good fit for the job due to my PhD.
