Sledgehammer Games, a premier developer in the video game industry and part of Activision, is seeking an Expert Physics/Animation Engineer for their Melbourne studio. This role focuses on developing cutting-edge physics and animation systems for AAA games, particularly the Call of Duty franchise. The position requires expertise in either physics simulation or animation systems, with responsibilities spanning from low-level optimization to high-level system architecture.

The ideal candidate will work within the Gameplay Team, contributing to the studio's mission of creating high-quality multiplayer experiences and captivating single-player campaigns. The role demands strong technical skills in C++, deep understanding of CPU architectures, and excellent mathematical abilities. You'll be collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and artists to create industry-leading gaming experiences.

Responsibilities For Expert Physics/Animation Engineer

  • Develop, design, modify, optimize and debug physics or animation pipeline and engine systems
  • Communicate features and collaborate with engineering, design, art and productions teams
  • Participate in the design, performance and code review process
  • Contribute to design and roadmap of industry-leading AAA engine
  • Drive collision data pipeline for high fidelity environments
  • Work on simulation and query behaviors for FPS physics
  • Design and implement new animation features

Requirements For Expert Physics/Animation Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics or Maths related field
  • Strong maths skills
  • Knowledge of CPU and memory architectures
  • Strong background in C/C++
  • Solid debugging skills including assembly-level debugging
  • Development experience with current generation platforms
  • Experience with physics simulation or animation systems
  • Understanding of animation systems or physics middleware APIs
