Description For Structural Engineer - Project Manager

Advanced Consulting Engineers (ACE-P.A.) is a Frederick, MD based structural engineering firm that is growing and seeking a candidate to fill a Structural Engineer - Project Manager role. Relocation assistance is available!

The successful candidate is expected to have working knowledge of several different construction types including CFS, concrete, steel, masonry, and wood. They should also be experienced in CAD and REVIT drafting. Our firm has a work environment which is busy yet relaxed with a diverse client base.

This person will work independently and lead teams on structural engineering projects and will be responsible for supporting the production of Structural engineering construction documents and shop drawings for our clients. All work is directly under the supervision of the firm's Principal Engineers. The candidate must be able to manage small and medium-sized projects and is required to communicate with design team members and clients. This person should possess strong communication and coordination skills, and should be self-motivated and detail oriented, with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically excellent structural drawings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform calculations based on engineering principles and building code requirements
  • Utilize a variety of engineering software packages in computer aided design
  • Be responsible for the production of project documents/shop drawings for client submissions
  • Travel to job sites for meetings and observations of projects during construction as needed
  • Prepare formal written reports for clients summarizing on-site observations
  • Interact with clients on continual basis during the project design
  • Be able to lead and mentor younger engineers as part of a project team

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering, structural emphasis or Architectural Engineering
  • EIT certification required
  • Minimum of +4 years career experience
  • Experience with computer applications and design software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, Ram Structural Systems, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with cfs, steel, concrete, masonry, and timber design preferred
  • Familiarity with applicable codes, such as IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
  • Self-motivation and ability to multi-task while maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to commute to Frederick, MD office
