Description For Aerodynamic Test Engineer, Prime Air Flight Sciences Vehicle Design & Test

Amazon Prime Air is seeking an outstanding Aerodynamic Test & Evaluation Engineer for their Drone Vehicle Design and Test team within Flight Sciences. This role involves owning the wind tunnel testing system and process, with opportunities to own flight test instrumentation and support acoustic testing systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, and executing wind tunnel tests for full vehicles, propellers, and other test articles
  • Fabricating and assembling wind tunnel model components, fixtures, and control systems
  • Leading the integration and testing of new test articles and fixtures
  • Building wiring harnesses for power electronics and test instrumentation
  • Running diagnostics on power electronics and test instrumentation
  • Completing calibrations with test instrumentation
  • Developing standard operating procedures and instructions for experiments
  • Coordinating transportation of test equipment

The ideal candidate should be comfortable supporting a team of design engineers and scientists in a fast-paced, inter-disciplinary testing environment. They should be ready for diverse challenges, willing to adapt to obstacles, and have strong attention to detail.

The Flight Sciences Vehicle Design & Test organization includes teams spanning various disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Performance, Stability & Control, Configuration & Spatial Integration, Loads, Structures, Mass Properties, Multi-disciplinary Optimization (MDO), Wind Tunnel Testing, Noise Testing, Flight Test Instrumentation, and Rapid Prototyping.

Responsibilities For Aerodynamic Test Engineer, Prime Air Flight Sciences Vehicle Design & Test

Linux
  • Bachelor's Degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, or operating aerodynamic test systems
  • Experience with wind tunnel testing and instrumentation
  • Experience designing and building mechanical and electrical systems, test models, and test fixtures
