Description For Commissioning Engineer, AMER-Central ACx

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you'll be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon-owned data centers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Review design documents and lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT)
  • Manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing
  • Take ownership of project successes by diving deep to resolve technical issues
  • Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements
  • Provide multi-discipline input into scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects
  • Review component submittal packages
  • Perform system level and integrated system testing
  • Audit activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements
  • Provide comprehensive weekly reporting of project status and lessons learned

The role involves working with various systems such as:

  • Medium and low voltage power systems
  • Generators
  • UPS
  • HVAC (Air Handlers / Exhaust Fans / VFD)
  • Chilled Water Systems
  • Building Management systems (BMS)
  • Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
  • Testing and balancing
  • Pumps and Hydronic systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Walk job sites in uneven terrain
  • Work longer hours and weekends when needed
  • Perform physical tasks throughout the day
  • Work in noisy, cold, or hot environments

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to relocate to the Columbus, OH area
  • Travel up to 20% of the year (domestic and international)
  • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits
  • US Citizenship is required

Requirements For Commissioning Engineer, AMER-Central ACx

Linux
  • 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 3 years of relevant discipline work experience
  • 1+ years of field level project support/execution
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Effective communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
  • Ability to read and edit construction documents
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components
