Description For Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer, Field Engineering

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Critical Infrastructure Mechanical Engineer to join their Infrastructure Services team. This role is crucial in supporting AWS's global data center operations, focusing on design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS infrastructure worldwide. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on challenging problems at hyper-scale, supporting all AWS data centers and their critical components.

As a Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for the full life-cycle support of AWS Data Centers, from initial design through maintenance and improvements. You'll serve as the primary engineering resource for your region, providing technical expertise and working with diverse teams to ensure optimal facility operations. The role involves troubleshooting, conducting root cause analysis, and creating corrective action documentation for site and equipment failures.

The position combines both office and field work, requiring someone who's adaptable and eager to get hands-on experience. You'll work on concurrent projects, potentially across multiple geographical regions, and will interface with various teams including operations, controls, construction, and design. The role demands strong engineering judgment, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities.

AWS Infrastructure Services is at the heart of keeping the cloud running, managing all aspects of AWS global infrastructure. You'll join a diverse team of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, working together to deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience, along with a valid US driver's license. They should have experience in commercial/industrial mechanical systems and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and the chance to work on innovative projects at a global scale.

Working at AWS means joining a company that values diverse experiences and inclusive culture. You'll benefit from work-life harmony, ongoing learning opportunities, and the chance to be part of employee-led affinity groups that foster a culture of inclusion.
