Network Dev Engineer II, AWS Direct Connect

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an exceptional Network Development Engineer (NDE) to join the AWS Direct Connect team, which is responsible for delivering solutions that enable customers to establish dedicated network connections from their premises to the AWS cloud. This role is part of the Direct Connect Network Engineering organization, which designs all aspects of the global network fabric for the AWS Direct Connect service.

As a Network Development Engineer II, you will be instrumental in defining and building the next generation of the AWS Direct Connect service. You'll work on designing and inventing the future of the network infrastructure that powers AWS Direct Connect, which is currently available in more than 60 locations across 22 countries. The role requires deep expertise in network hardware, routing protocols, and large-scale network design.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing network infrastructure, troubleshooting complex networking issues, maintaining standards across networking tools, and creating documentation for network implementations. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and be responsible for making decisions that have significant impact on AWS's network infrastructure.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of ASICs, optics, and router system design, along with extensive experience in routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. You'll need Linux experience and background in network automation, as SDN is a core component of Amazon's networking strategy. You'll be joining AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS), the team responsible for keeping the cloud running by managing all AWS global infrastructure.
