Amazon Web Services (AWS) Core Networking team is seeking an Optical Network Development Engineer to join their Data Center Regional Network Engineering Services team. This role is crucial in designing, building, deploying, and scaling Amazon's networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global data centers.
The position offers a unique opportunity to understand the growing AWS network and internal customers' requirements on interconnect solutions. You'll work backwards to devise hardware solutions by influencing the broad industry and/or develop software tools with sister teams to maintain a highly available network that delights AWS customers.
As part of AWS Infrastructure Services, you'll join the team responsible for keeping the cloud running, supporting all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
The role requires strong expertise in optical networking, with at least 4 years of experience in optical planning, DWDM systems, and programming skills in Python and Unix environments. You'll be working on automating test plans, qualifying optical modules, and improving operational processes.
