Description For Optical Network Development Engineer, Network Product Development - Optics

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

As a Network Development Engineer, you will be responsible for building, deploying and scaling the Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units, across multiple global datacenters. You'll design network designs, services and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements. You'll create and automate deployment processes that increase quality and velocity. You'll work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions, bringing them from concept to production.

Key responsibilities: • Design network designs, services, and deployment procedures • Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents • Work with internal stakeholders to influence technology roadmaps • Construct and test solutions • Provide support to deployment and operation teams • Create and automate deployment processes • Work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions

Required qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience • 8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in IP protocols • 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, ISIS) • 8+ years working with major network operating systems (Cisco IOS, Junos) • 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and scripting in Python, Perl, shell

Preferred qualifications: • Master's in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience • Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations • Expert-level certifications (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE) • Expert-level scripting and automation skills in a network environment • Software development/programming skills
