Job Description

Devices and Services Trust and Privacy (DSTP) is seeking a Privacy Engineer for Incident Response to maintain and raise the trust bar across Amazon's 30+ Devices and Services. This role combines security engineering with privacy protection, requiring expertise in incident response and privacy governance. You'll lead responses to privacy and data protection issues, working in a global team environment to quickly contain incidents and implement long-term solutions.

The position demands strong technical skills in security and privacy, combined with excellent communication abilities to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and legal. You'll be responsible for managing privacy risk events, developing automation solutions, and establishing metrics for measuring compliance and performance.

As part of the Trust Fundamentals' Privacy GRC team, you'll help develop processes, tools, and compliance mechanisms to improve how D&S manages privacy risks. The role offers opportunities to work on diverse challenges, from threat modeling to privacy tool development, in a fast-paced environment that values innovation and customer trust.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $136,000 to $212,800 per year depending on location, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional passionate about privacy protection and incident response to make a significant impact at scale.

Responsibilities For Privacy Engineer, Incident Response

  • Manage escalated privacy and trust risk events/cases from start to finish
  • Interact with and influence other teams to support decisions on containing incidents
  • Own delivery of large, impactful, and highly cross-functional program initiatives
  • Develop deep knowledge of global privacy and data governance obligations
  • Establish metrics and regular reporting/escalation mechanisms
  • Support deep dive assessments and ad-hoc data analysis requests

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of any combination of: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
