Job Description

Operations is at the heart of Amazon's business, delivering tens of thousands of products to hundreds of countries worldwide daily. The Reliability & Maintenance Engineering (RME) team works behind the scenes to ensure smooth operations. As a Senior Automation Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance in fulfillment centers.

You'll be responsible for providing proactive controls automation and technical support, troubleshooting complex control systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves working with state-of-the-art technology, including conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, and SCADA systems.

Key responsibilities include maintaining automation systems, collaborating with various teams (Operations, Engineering, Safety), troubleshooting material handling control systems, and monitoring performance metrics. You'll mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to optimize MHE systems and implement innovative projects.

The position requires expertise in PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Profibus), motor control systems, and electrical distribution systems. You'll be involved in failure analysis, system assessments, and continuous improvement processes.

Amazon offers competitive compensation ($102,600 - $163,000 based on location) and comprehensive benefits including healthcare from day one, 401(k) matching, and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave. The role provides opportunities for technical leadership and direct impact on customer satisfaction through maintaining and improving automated systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation engineering, demonstrated experience with industrial control systems, and excellent problem-solving abilities. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills, as you'll be mentoring team members and driving operational excellence across the facility.
