Senior Constructability Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

We are looking for a Senior Constructability Engineer with practical construction and commissioning experience to help drive standards in our delivery process for AWS Infrastructure Services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborating with the Global Constructability Principal and global Construction Management teams
• Driving practical constructability standards in design documentation
• Improving commissionability in designs
• Optimizing engineering input post-design completion
• Ensuring consistency across regional engineering teams
• Acting as the initial point of escalation for complex constructability issues

As a Senior Constructability Engineer, you'll be involved in the entire project lifecycle, from site selection to operations. You'll serve as a bridge between Design Engineering and other teams, providing pragmatic, engineering-based support. You'll tackle delivery issues, recognize problems, and develop solutions, always considering AWS's best interests.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continuous customer access to innovation.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS will help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for customers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical engineering or a Construction-related discipline
• 2+ years of recent experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale MEP plants
• 2 years of working experience with 3 years of experience in design of mission-critical facilities, including experience with MEP engineering consultancies

Preferred Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of experience in data centre engineering of mission-critical facilities
2. In-depth understanding of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
3. Experience reading and interpreting design, equipment, and construction specifications and drawings
4. Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
5. Creative problem-solving skills to find innovative solutions that reduce costs without impacting quality and reliability
6. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
7. Ability to perform complex business case analysis and present justifications to management
