Project Kuiper is Amazon's ambitious low Earth orbit satellite broadband network initiative, aimed at delivering fast, reliable internet globally. As a Senior Software Development Engineer in the Manufacturing Software Systems (MSS) team, you'll be at the forefront of solving technical challenges related to manufacturing satellites, ground equipment, and associated ASICs. This role combines software development with industrial automation, requiring expertise in building secure manufacturing systems and orchestration capabilities.
You'll work with cross-disciplinary teams spanning software, hardware, networks, RF, embedded systems, and industrial automation. Your primary focus will be designing and developing manufacturing software that drives the assembly, calibration, testing, and provisioning of satellites. This includes building end-to-end system capabilities for manufacturing orchestration across factory production lines.
The role offers unique challenges in developing secure manufacturing software systems while implementing chain-of-custody protocols to protect intellectual property. You'll collaborate with satellite component teams, manufacturing engineering, product engineering, and security engineering to identify requirements and design robust solutions.
The position requires strong technical leadership, with responsibilities including mentoring team members, leading architectural decisions, and ensuring high-quality software delivery. You'll be instrumental in building the infrastructure that enables Amazon to rapidly manufacture and deploy its satellite constellation.
This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge space technology while solving complex manufacturing challenges. The role offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to make a significant impact on a project that aims to provide internet connectivity to underserved communities worldwide.
