Re-imagine the future of Amazon Search with us! Join our team to create an interactive conversational experience that answers product questions, performs comparisons, and offers personalized suggestions to help customers shop. We're looking for builders passionate about building scalable, robust, and AI-powered experiences across Amazon to bring this vision to life.

As an SDE2, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Own the full software development lifecycle for your assigned features, from design to implementation to testing.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code that meets Amazon's engineering standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in the broader technical vision and roadmap discussions for Rufus.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in relevant technologies and incorporate them into the Rufus architecture when appropriate.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with more junior engineers on the team.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and other team activities to continuously improve engineering practices.
  • Identify and drive process improvements to increase the efficiency and reliability of the team's software development workflows.
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to quickly address and resolve any production issues or incidents.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential operational risks to minimize the impact on customers.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's incident response and disaster recovery procedures.

You'll be joining the Rufus STP (Sensitive Topics and Policies) team, which owns services and ML models powering sensitivity checks for customer conversations for Amazon's new AI-powered Shopping Assistant. As part of this team, you'll be responsible for the client-facing APIs that drive the Rufus AI experience, as well as other AI-generated features on Amazon's Shopping pages. It's a collaborative, fast-paced environment, with many senior engineers who are eager to serve as mentors. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the shopping experience of millions of Amazon customers worldwide.
