AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Sr Construction Manager, you will be responsible for construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities for new builds or general capital projects. You will work on some of the most interesting electrical and mechanical systems in the world, directly supporting AWS customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout phases
- Conduct negotiations and evaluate bids/proposals
- Create construction project scope and request for proposals
- Manage construction projects for specific initiatives to increase data center resiliency
- Perform constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs
- Manage construction documents, including submittal review, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing
- Ensure construction project quality control
- Report key construction metrics to team members and management
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis for equipment failures
- Define data center system-level architecture and create/maintain project documentation
- Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent engineering science + 7 years of related experience, or 11 years of total related construction management experience without a degree
- 6 years of experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants
- 6 years of general contractor and vendor management experience
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver complex construction projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of data center system-level architecture and electrical/mechanical engineering principles
- Ability to communicate clearly and use data to justify conclusions
- Experience with design or construction of data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale MEP plants
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
- Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
