AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to join our design team in one of our four hubs: Austin, TX; Columbus, OH; Herndon, VA; or Seattle, WA. As a Data Center Civil Engineer at AWS, you will lead Civil Engineering designs for Amazon Data Centers. You'll be part of a highly creative and efficient design team tasked with solving problems and challenging the status quo. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process
- Reviewing designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement
- Coordinating with internal and external MEP design engineers
- Developing and maintaining design standards, prototypes, and specifications
- Coordinating with AWS Due Diligence and Real Estate teams for site selection
- Managing multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously
- Leading initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and consistency
- Traveling for site assessments and meetings (approximately 25%)

Basic Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering License, or plan for achieving licensure within 12 months of start date
- 7+ years professional experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site-civil design
- Ability to evaluate design and constructability of site design by third-party consultants
- Proficiency in understanding and applying building codes, local regulations, and standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience in civil design for Data Centers or Mission Critical facilities
- Knowledge of mission-critical equipment, systems, and design processes
- Ability to travel internationally
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite software
