Systems Engineer II, AWS Operations Management (AWSOM)

AWS Operations Management (AWSOM) team is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join their newly founded organization established in April 2023. The role focuses on reducing operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects, while managing day-to-day operations of AWS Regions.

The position involves:

• Operating and improving some of the largest software systems in existence
• Driving technical, business, and cultural change to enhance reliability and performance
• Balancing daily operations with long-term software engineering initiatives
• Working with a diverse range of systems and technologies in cloud computing

The AWSOM team's mission is to:

• Launch new offerings to improve security, availability, and efficiency of AWS Regions
• Automate and remove operational toil for scale operations
• Own operational responsibility for all Utility Compute (UC) services
• Manage service availability, latency, performance, and change management
• Influence customer experience through reliability recommendations
