Description For Battery Cell Engineer - NPI

Apple's Battery Engineering group is seeking a talented Battery Cell Engineer to join their innovative team in developing cutting-edge battery solutions. This role sits within the Battery Product Development organization, which is responsible for producing high-energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems across all Apple products.

As a Battery Cell Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of developing and qualifying advanced lithium-based rechargeable cell designs for new product consideration. You'll work closely with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design, and Reliability Testing groups, owning battery module development from initial system architecture through production ramp.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on transformative battery technologies that push the boundaries of what's possible in consumer electronics. You'll be responsible for developing performance specifications, establishing mechanical dimensions, and defining cell designs that meet internal customer requirements. Responsibilities For Battery Cell Engineer - NPI

  • Develop performance specifications and mechanical dimensions for cell design
  • Lead engineering qualification efforts for new lithium rechargeable cell designs
  • Resolve process capabilities and determine acceptability for production
  • Work with suppliers and management to ensure timely product development
  • Conduct investigations and prepare status reports
  • Research advanced technology for next-generation cell design
  • Develop intellectual property to protect technology developments

Requirements For Battery Cell Engineer - NPI

  • BS and a minimum of 10+ years industry experience
  • Expertise in electrochemistry and material development
  • Hands-on experience working with battery materials and cell design/development
  • Master's or Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience industry experience preferred
  • Experience with battery materials and design development
  • Familiarity with test equipment, test procedures, and international standards
  • Experience with quality tools and statistical analysis
