Join Ascera's Cybersecurity Connector Team as an intern to help build critical data connectors for industry-standard security solutions. This hands-on development role involves writing scripts to extract evidence from cybersecurity systems and transform data for automated compliance decisions. You'll work with leading platforms like CrowdStrike, Tenable, and Microsoft Defender to enable Continuous Compliance Monitoring aligned with frameworks like NIST 800-171 and CMMC.

As part of a fast-moving, cybersecurity-driven engineering team, you'll learn how real-world cybersecurity telemetry maps to formal compliance frameworks, gain experience with leading security products, and understand modern compliance automation platforms. Responsibilities For Cybersecurity Data Connector Developer - Internship

  • Write, test, and maintain data connectors to cybersecurity tools using Python scripting, SQL queries, and JQ transforms
  • Work with APIs and logs from security platforms to extract evidence for compliance control assessments
  • Implement mappings from raw security signals to structured formats
  • Partner with TPMs to understand security control requirements
  • Stand up local or lab-based versions of security tools for testing
  • Support initial deployment of new connectors with customers
  • Document connector's purpose, behavior, configuration, and data transformations
  • Help manage shared cybersecurity tool lab environment

Requirements For Cybersecurity Data Connector Developer - Internship

Python
  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year college or university (sophomore year or later preferred)
  • Studying Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
  • Demonstrated passion for cybersecurity
  • Comfort writing simple scripts in Python, querying data with SQL, and transforming JSON
  • Familiarity with common cybersecurity tools and concepts
  • A mindset for debugging, exploring APIs, and automating evidence extraction
  • Ability to communicate findings, write clear documentation, and work collaboratively
