This unique role functions as a "hacker in residence" within the R&D team, focusing on experimenting with new ideas and building prototypes that will shape the future of Apache Airflow management at scale. The position particularly emphasizes exploring how Generative AI will transform data professionals' work over the next 3-5 years.
The ideal candidate will be a technology generalist comfortable working with various tools and programming languages, including Go, Python, and React/TypeScript. They'll have the freedom to experiment and validate concepts, working closely with product and engineering teams to transform successful ideas into customer-facing features or new products. Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer, Office of the CTO
- Act as a 'hacker in residence,' rapidly prototyping and validating ideas using diverse technologies
- Collaborate with the R&D team to envision and prototype next-gen features for managing Apache Airflow at scale
- Identify areas for improvement and devise innovative solutions
- Build LLM-based prototypes and features that meaningfully change the way data engineers work
- Contribute to intellectual property, articles, and talks showcasing Astronomer's thought leadership
- Communicate effectively, articulating research goals, progress, and outcomes
- Convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
