Mid-level Full-stack Engineer

Blackbullion is an award-winning edtech company transitioning into fintech, working with over 60 clients across the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland. They provide financial education, access to funding, and tools to manage money for students worldwide. In 2024, they've scaled up their team, launched their app, and started their Series A funding round.

The role is for a mid-level full-stack engineer to join their engineering team. You'll be working on the development of their student and client-facing web platform, which delivers learning content, funding opportunities, and analytics to users. This is primarily a backend role, but you'll have the opportunity to work on features end-to-end.

The ideal candidate is a product-focused engineer interested in building experiences that make a difference for their growing student and client userbase. You'll be taking ownership of new features, scaling up the existing platform, and collaborating with the product team on day-to-day development.

Tech stack:

• Backend: PHP and Laravel
• Frontend: React and TypeScript
• Database: MySQL
• Infrastructure: AWS (EC2, S3, SQS, Lambda)
• Serverless stack using AWS Lambda and Serverless framework

Interview process:

1. Initial call with the CTO (30 mins)
2. Take-home coding challenge
3. Final interview with the CTO, Senior Product Manager, and a senior engineer (1 hour)
