Job Description
Blacksmith is building a CI cloud that helps companies run their CI (GitHub Actions) substantially faster and cheaper. Their mission is to unbundle CI from the hyperscaler clouds (AWS/GCP/Azure). They orchestrate millions of VMs for CI jobs each month over their own fleet of bare-metal hardware and power CI for 600+ fast-growing startups. This role is based in their NYC office, requiring 5 days a week in-person presence. As a Solutions Engineer, you will dive into logs, troubleshoot CI issues, and help unblock customers. You will respond to tickets, answer questions, and dig into infrastructure issues. You'll help customers migrate, optimize, and scale their CI workloads. Responsibilities
- Pick up new systems quickly
- Dive into logs
- Troubleshoot CI issues
- Help unblock customers when things go wrong
- Respond to tickets
- Answer questions
- Dig into infrastructure issues
- Help customers migrate, optimize, and scale their CI workloads
- Be a technical point of contact for some of our best customers
- Follow up, close the loop, and make sure issues are resolved end-to-end
Requirements
- Thrive in an in-person environment in NYC, 5 days a week
- Be technical and resourceful
- Have a high degree of customer empathy
- Comfortable responding to tickets, answering questions, and digging into infrastructure issues
- Enjoy learning and constantly ask: “How can this be better?”
- Communicate clearly and effectively — both verbally and in writing
- Tenacious and detail-oriented
- Excited to be part of a high-growth startup where priorities can shift quickly and there’s always more to build
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and tools
- Deep understanding of Docker
- Experience working directly with customers in technical support, solutions engineering, or developer relations
- Comfortable creating and iterating on new support or optimization processes
