Description For Audio Sound Crew – Blue Man Group New York

Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theatre in New York City is seeking a part-time Audio Crew member for their award-winning theatrical production. This role is perfect for an experienced audio engineer with a passion for live entertainment and cutting-edge technology.

As an Audio Sound Crew member, you'll be at the heart of Blue Man Group's euphoric celebrations of human connection through art, music, comedy, and non-verbal communication. Your expertise will contribute to performances that have captivated over 35 million people worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mix and execute show cues with precision
  • Maintain all audio systems in the building
  • Perform preset, turnover, and post-show duties safely and professionally
  • Troubleshoot and repair audio-related issues as they arise
  • Maintain clear communication with the Stage Manager and Supervisor

Required Skills:

  • Working knowledge of professional audio equipment
  • Experience with QLab and MIDI protocol
  • Expertise in PA systems
  • Proficiency with digital mixing consoles
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Experience running sound for theatre and mixing live music (strongly preferred)

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position requiring regular weekend availability. You must be flexible and available for shows during nights, weekends, and holiday/spring break seasons. Occasional weekday maintenance calls may be required.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $26.00.
