Description For Principal Analog/ Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer

Acacia, a part of Cisco, designs intelligent transceivers using advanced signal processing and photonic integration for the 100G, 400G and 1T bit speed fiber optic transmission market deployed in data center, metro, long-haul and ultra-long haul telecommunication networks.

As a Principal Analog/ Mixed-Signal IC Design Engineer, you will be a key member of a small, dynamic IC Design group that develops high speed (>25Gb/s), and high accuracy, analog designs for optical communications products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical leadership in definition and implementation of large-scale block on a complex chip
  • Mentoring team members and tracking deliverables
  • Participating in peer review of complex IC designs
  • Providing expert advice on design methodology from conception to production
  • Actively contributing to Cisco research initiatives
  • Working with cross-functional groups across Cisco to define future strategies

You will collaborate with other Acacia mixed-signal engineers to provide an optimized design that will integrate into the ASIC. You'll also interact with other Acacia groups including digital/DSP design, system design, package design, and module design.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about developing high-speed AMS circuits and outstanding products, detail-oriented, energetic, and driven to tackle difficult problems. You should be able to work independently but also thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, learning from and teaching your colleagues. Excellent communication skills are essential for flawless teamwork within and across teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSEE degree with 15+ years of experience, MS degree with 12+ years of experience, or PhD with 8+ years of experience
  • Prior knowledge in top-down design approach
  • Extensive experience in design, simulation, and measurement of high-speed ICs
  • Experience with software tools such as Cadence (Virtuoso), Spectre/APS/SpectreX, layout validation and post-layout extraction tools, EMX, mixed signal simulations in AMS, Matlab

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience with electrical transceiver applications
  • Experience with FinFET technology
  • High-frequency layout experience
  • Floorplanning skills
  • Custom transistor layout experience
  • Design for manufacturability expertise
  • Laboratory validation experience
