AI Engineer

Coast is seeking their first AI Engineer to lead and build all AI-related features for their visual API platform. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI-powered software creation at a fast-growing startup.

As the AI Engineer at Coast, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative features that make it faster and more powerful to create functional API demos. The role combines cutting-edge AI technology with practical software development, requiring both technical expertise and product intuition.

The position involves working with modern AI technologies including GPT-4, Claude 3+, and various open-source models to create intelligent systems that can understand and generate UI layouts, component code, and user flows. You'll be implementing sophisticated RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems and building AI-powered copilots that assist users in creating and refining their API demonstrations.

Coast is trusted by major companies like Twilio, Plaid, FIS, and Zurich Insurance, and is backed by notable investors including Y Combinator, Arash Ferdowsi (Dropbox co-founder), Calvin French-Owen, and Amjad Masad. The company has a lean, fast-moving team that's focused on product excellence and customer success.

The ideal candidate should have experience building AI features for design tools, creating developer copilots, and working with vector graphics and typography AI. Strong knowledge of prompt engineering, ASTs, and context-aware AI systems is essential. Additional experience with semantic embeddings and LLM evaluation would be valuable.

Working directly with the founders, you'll have the opportunity to ship ambitious products and help define the future of AI-powered software creation. The role offers competitive compensation ($170K - $225K) and the chance to work with cutting-edge AI technology in a product-focused environment.
