Description For Design Engineer, Product

Coast is revolutionizing the way API-first companies showcase their products by making APIs visual and creating instant, bespoke previews of true integrations for customers. As a Design Engineer at Coast, you'll be at the forefront of building the backbone of technical sales, leading design initiatives and contributing to the frontend experience.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with the founders in a lean, fast-moving team environment at their NYC office. You'll be responsible for architecting and developing across the stack, with a primary focus on creating exceptional user experiences and design systems. The tech stack includes React, React Native for Web, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.

This position is perfect for someone who combines strong design thinking with technical expertise. You'll be working with some of the world's most innovative companies like Twilio, Plaid, FIS, and Zurich Insurance. The company is backed by prestigious organizations including Y Combinator, and notable individuals like Arash Ferdowsi and Calvin French-Owen.

The ideal candidate should have end-to-end design experience, excellent understanding of latest design tools and trends, and expertise in React. You'll be expected to think critically about product, design, and customer goals while maintaining a low-ego, honest, and kind approach to work. The role requires strong visual design skills including layout, typography, and color theory, combined with a deep understanding of modern web technologies.

The interview process is comprehensive, including an intro call, product deep dive, platform access/take home activity, technical interview, in-person meeting, and reference calls. This reflects Coast's commitment to finding the right person who can contribute to their mission of transforming how API companies demonstrate their products to prospects.
