Cognite, a global SaaS leader in industrial digitalization, is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer for their AI services team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art language models and contribute to transformative research in Industrial DataOps.
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of building applications that interact with cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs), delivering innovative solutions to Industrial Clients worldwide. You'll design and implement highly scalable backend services powering Cognite's Gen AI products, solve concrete industrial data problems, and work closely with Product Management & TPMs to translate product requirements into software architectures.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience, a strong background in backend programming languages like Python or Kotlin, and experience with cloud technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, and major cloud platforms. Familiarity with Knowledge Graphs and Graph databases like Neo4j is a plus. Experience with large language models and any stages in the ML development lifecycle is preferred.

Responsibilities For Senior Backend Software Engineer – AI services
- Build applications that interact with state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) that deliver cutting-edge and time-saving solutions to Industrial Clients all over the world
- Solve concrete industrial data problems by designing and implementing APIs and robust services on top of Cognite Data Fusion
- Design and implement highly scalable backend services powering Cognite's Gen AI products
- Work closely with Product Management & TPMs to translate product requirements into software architectures
- Provide technical leadership to implement best practices for software development
Requirements For Senior Backend Software Engineer – AI services
- BS/MS degree in a relevant technical discipline such as Computer Science, and Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in one or more well-established backend programming languages, such as Python, Kotlin, or C#
- Experience in building and deploying scalable cloud based backend services and APIs
- Familiar with Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience with Knowledge Graphs and Graph databases like Neo4j
- Excellent communication skills with strong organizational, problem-solving, debugging and analytical skills
- Demonstrated technical leadership in a cross-functional distributed team environment
- Well-structured, efficient, and maintainable code writing skills
