Software Engineer Low-level and Performance Optimization

Datadog is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their team working on the Datadog Agent and OpenTelemetry integration. The role focuses on developing high-performance observability pipelines that run on customer infrastructures across various platforms. The Datadog Agent is crucial software that efficiently collects observability data from millions of hosts and transmits it to Datadog for customer analysis.

The position involves working with OpenTelemetry (OTel), an open-source, vendor-neutral observability solution, ensuring that users can access Datadog's industry-leading observability solutions while maintaining OTel-specific capabilities. You'll be responsible for developing and optimizing the performance of these systems, contributing to both Datadog-specific components and upstream OpenTelemetry projects.

Key responsibilities include simplifying customer onboarding, managing OTel pipelines with Fleet Management capabilities, reviewing community contributions, and troubleshooting production deployment issues. You'll work in a collaborative environment where engineers have a voice in product decisions and project planning.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of software development experience, with deep knowledge of systems they've worked on. Strong programming skills in languages like Go, Java, Rust, .NET, or C/C++ are essential.
