Description For Lead Software Engineer - Ad Platforms

The Ad Serving Engineering organization within Disney Entertainment and ESPN is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining the high-performance, distributed, microservice-based Digital Advertising Platform. The platform handles qualification, delivery, and tracking of Digital Advertising campaigns across all Disney online properties, including Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will apply deep technical knowledge to deliver scalable, performant, and maintainable software. You'll work with the Ad Experience team responsible for advanced ad formats on Hulu and Disney+, focusing on delivering seamless viewing experiences while offering innovative ad solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and support peers in improving code and design
  • Facilitate technical discussions and drive resolution
  • Design and implement solutions in a high-throughput microservices environment
  • Enhance systems observability with proper metrics and alerts
  • Participate in on-call rotations
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for stakeholders

Required Skills:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • Advanced Java proficiency
  • Experience with SpringBoot, DynamoDB, Redis, Kafka, AWS
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
