Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their Backend team in Seattle. This role is crucial in building and advancing the technological foundation for Disney's media business globally, including platforms like Disney+ and Hulu.

The position sits within the User State and Familiar Personalization team, which is responsible for implementing critical familiar features for both Hulu and Disney Plus. The team processes user interactions with content and delivers personalized experiences through reliable, high-throughput services and pipelines.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing and implementing solutions that impact millions of users worldwide. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies in the JVM ecosystem (Java, Scala, Kotlin) and handle large-scale, high-availability backend services. The role requires both technical excellence and leadership skills, as you'll be expected to mentor team members, drive best practices, and ensure the quality of code through thorough reviews.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $159,500 to $213,900 per year in Seattle, along with the opportunity to work on products that matter to millions of people globally. This is a hybrid role requiring 4 days per week in the office, allowing you to collaborate closely with team members while maintaining some flexibility.
