Description For Lead Software Engineer

Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the development of world-class user experiences across their digital platforms. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, focusing on React-based applications that deliver Disney's entertainment and sports content to global audiences.

The position sits within the Content Platforms & Operations team, responsible for the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney's linear networks and theatrical content. You'll be architecting scalable front-end solutions, optimizing state management with Redux, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative viewing experiences.

As a technical leader, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of Disney's media business, working on high-impact projects across streaming, digital products, advertising, and content distribution. Responsibilities For Lead Software Engineer

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of React-based user interfaces
  • Architect scalable, reusable, and high-performance front-end solutions
  • Implement best practices in front-end performance, accessibility, and security
  • Mentor and guide React developers and contractors
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback
  • Set technical direction for front-end development
  • Work with product managers, designers, and backend engineers
  • Optimize deployment, testing, and performance monitoring

Requirements For Lead Software Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of front-end development experience with React
  • 3+ years of experience leading UI development efforts
  • Experience with React, Redux, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
  • Strong understanding of state management patterns, component lifecycle, and hooks
  • Experience with frontend performance optimization techniques
  • Expertise in CSS and responsive design principles
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and cloud deployment
  • Strong ability to mentor and guide junior and mid-level React developers
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
