The Media Systems Engineer II position focuses on architecting, designing, and constructing the varied technical platforms that power our linear and digital platforms. This role is crucial in transforming Disney's capability and flexibility in acquiring, producing, and distributing content worldwide while ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and resiliency.

As a Media Systems Engineer II, you'll work at the intersection of hardware and software-based technology, requiring comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of technology that powers the generation, monetization, and distribution of all forms of consumer-facing linear and digital video/audio content. You'll be responsible for numerous systems including Playout Technology, Studios, Production Control Rooms, Remote Production, Post-Production, Contribution/Distribution Systems, Networking, Cloud Compute, and Production Software.

Responsibilities For Media Systems Engineer II

  • Architect, design, source, and construct media technology environments
  • Resolve issues affecting production, broadcast, and content distribution
  • Analyze and troubleshoot streaming audio/video signals
  • Manage third-party service providers
  • Select, train, and evaluate technical staff
  • Develop long range plans for future media technology needs
  • Provide operational support for audio and video production/distribution systems

Requirements For Media Systems Engineer II

  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in leading others in technical environments
  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • Scripting proficiency (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of SMPTE standards for broadcast television
  • Experience with cloud-based storage and compute infrastructure
  • Knowledge of compression techniques
  • Experience with Evertz software control systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and technical documentation tools
  • Physical requirements including ability to climb ladders and work on raised structures
