Description For Media Systems Engineer II

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is at the forefront of reimagining magical viewing experiences for the world's most beloved stories while transforming media business for the future. As a Media Systems Engineer II, you'll be part of Engineering Services team that designs, builds, and sustains technology powering DE&E Technology's worldwide content production and distribution platforms.

The role focuses on transforming how Disney acquires, produces, and distributes content worldwide, ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and resiliency. You'll work at the intersection of hardware and software-based technology, requiring comprehensive understanding of technology that powers generation, monetization, and distribution of consumer-facing linear and digital video/audio content.

Key responsibilities include leading technical implementation of broadcast production systems, modernizing legacy infrastructure, coordinating facility construction and upgrades, and developing project plans. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies including SMPTE ST 2110, 4K, UHD HDR, and cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Media Systems Engineer II

  • Lead technical implementation of broadcast production systems and cloud infrastructure
  • Modernize legacy media production infrastructure systems
  • Coordinate construction of facilities, upgrades and equipment installation
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and capital planning
  • Collaborate with management to assess facility needs
  • Work with vendors and industry organizations to define standards

Requirements For Media Systems Engineer II

Linux
  • BS in Engineering or Computer Science or 5 years experience in broadcast facilities design and documentation
  • 3+ years broadcast engineering experience
  • Strong understanding of baseband/IP video, audio and digital compression
  • Knowledge of file transfer acceleration technologies
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, HTTP, UDP, SSL, and SNMP
  • Proficiency in at least one of: Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, C or C++
  • Familiar with SMPTE standards for broadcast television
