Description For Platform Engineer

The Walt Disney Company is seeking a Platform Engineer to join their International Application Services (IAS) team within Enterprise Technology. This role focuses on optimizing application deployment platforms and championing DevOps culture across Disney's global operations. The position offers a unique opportunity to influence cloud adoption strategy and modernize legacy systems while working with cutting-edge technologies.

The ideal candidate will combine strong development expertise with deep operational knowledge, working closely with Software Engineering, Security, and IT Operations teams. The role requires expertise in Windows Server, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible), and CI/CD tools. Responsibilities For Platform Engineer

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code
  • Investigate and resolve production issues across UI, API, database, and infrastructure
  • Lead technical recovery during major outages
  • Monitor system performance and make recommendations for improvements
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Security team to ensure security by design
  • Lead creation and maintenance of Disaster Recovery plans
  • Conduct research into third-party products
  • Stay current with latest technologies and industry best practices

Requirements For Platform Engineer

Linux
Kubernetes
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2016-2022)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft IAS
  • Proficiency in PowerShell
  • Experience with Git (GitLab)
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab Pipelines, Octopus Deploy)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with strategic mindset
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
