Description For Senior Software Engineer - Android

Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join their Media Engineering team. This role focuses on building scalable solutions for Disney's Android applications that stream video across various devices including phones, tablets, and TVs.

The position is part of the Product Engineering team, responsible for engineering Disney Entertainment & ESPN digital and streaming products and platforms. You'll be working with a highly collaborative group that values pristine communication and maintains high code quality standards with unit tests, automated tests, modern libraries, and a Kotlin codebase.

As a Lead Android Engineer, you'll be responsible for critical components including release process, remote configuration management, and handling live production issues. You'll lead entire projects from start to finish while monitoring team health and facilitating career growth amongst team members.

The role offers competitive compensation ($145,400 - $195,000) plus bonus potential and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer - Android

  • Maintain and update the Android variant of the Disney Media Player
  • Debug and diagnose Android Device issues
  • Collaborate with application development teams, services engineering teams and product management
  • Ensure latest audio and video standards delivery
  • Develop, Debug, Test and Benchmark various components
  • Perform online code reviews of pull requests
  • Create and update documentation

Requirements For Senior Software Engineer - Android

Kotlin
Java
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of production experience with Kotlin and the Android SDK
  • Proficiency with Reactive Programming and Dependency Injection
  • Well-versed in different architectural patterns (MVI/MVVM or equivalent)
  • Pristine communication skills
  • Experience resolving production issues at large scale
  • Strong code writing, testing, and documentation skills
