Machine Learning Engineer Lead - Merchant

DoorDash is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer Lead to join their Merchant team. This role involves leading a team of world-class engineers in Machine Learning science, redefining Merchant experience through cutting-edge approaches, and providing a consistent, personalized experience to merchants. The ideal candidate will utilize robust data and machine learning infrastructure to develop inference and optimization for Merchant experience and build new merchant products.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Leading Merchant machine learning efforts, applying various AI techniques to improve Merchant experience and build new products.
2. Building AI-powered products for restaurant onboarding, logistics ETA prediction, and tax categorization.
3. Shaping the product roadmap with engineering and product leaders, leveraging AI/ML.
4. Implementing end-to-end ML products and shipping production models via experimentation.
5. Driving business impact through state-of-the-art ML and GenAI solutions.
6. Hiring, growing, and mentoring a talented team of Machine Learning Scientists.

The ideal candidate should have:

• 2+ years of team lead and tech lead experience on large machine learning systems.
• 6+ years of industry experience developing impactful advanced machine learning models.
• Deep familiarity with applied ML systems (deep learning, computer vision, NLP, causal inference, recommendation, LLM).
• Strong understanding of quantitative disciplines.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field.
