Job Description

GE Vernova's Power Conversion & Storage business is seeking a Lead Power Electronics Embedded Software Development Engineer to join their team. This role combines advanced software engineering with power electronics expertise, focusing on designing and controlling Low, Middle and High Voltage Power Electronics converters. The position offers an opportunity to work on high-performance systems (>98% efficiency) in challenging environments, including marinized converters and military applications.

The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in embedded systems development, FPGA programming, and real-time software development. You'll be responsible for designing C software libraries, developing DSP runtime code, and architecting embedded systems that meet strict timing and functional requirements. The role requires both technical depth in power electronics and software engineering, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities For Lead Power Electronics Embedded Software Development Engineer

  • Design and implement robust C software libraries for CPU control of medium voltage converters
  • Develop real-time DSP runtime and application-level code for performance-optimized operation
  • Architect embedded software systems using FPGA technology
  • Create technical documentation including integration guidelines, user manuals, and interface specifications
  • Design control electronics schematics and PCB layouts

Requirements For Lead Power Electronics Embedded Software Development Engineer

Linux
  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer or Software Engineering with 3+ years embedded systems experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years embedded systems experience
  • Proficient in communication protocols (EtherCAT, EGD, Modbus)
  • Understanding of RTOS (VxWorks or Linux Red Hat)
  • Advanced experience in VHDL programming for FPGAs
  • Competent in hardware design tools
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers
  • Understanding of power electronics and converter topologies
