Description For SRE Support Engineer

Gigster is seeking experienced SRE Support Engineers to join their elite Talent Network, working on cutting-edge projects for both startups and Fortune 500 companies. This role combines technical expertise with customer support, requiring deep knowledge of cloud technologies and container orchestration.

The position offers unique flexibility as part of the Gigster Talent Network, where engineers can choose their projects and set their rates. The role requires working either UK or Pacific time zone hours, supporting internal IaaS and providing comprehensive technical support from onboarding to advanced problem-solving.

Key technical requirements include extensive experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux administration. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience supporting highly scalable applications and web services. Strong English communication skills are essential as the role involves direct interaction with a technical customer base.

The role involves a wide range of responsibilities, from troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues to contributing to knowledge base articles and participating in post-mortem reviews. Engineers will work in a collaborative environment, focusing on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities For SRE Support Engineer

  • Work cross-functionally with customers and partners to address complex questions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve container orchestration/management issues
  • Resolve complex application deployment issues
  • Analyze customer interaction trends
  • Build knowledge base articles
  • Participate in post-mortem reviews
  • Drive operational excellence
  • Work hours either 8 AM to 5 PM UK time or 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific time
  • Be available for weekend maintenance when needed

Requirements For SRE Support Engineer

  • Robust level of spoken and written English
  • 5+ years experience in supporting highly scalable applications and web services
  • Experience with AWS (mandatory)
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker (mandatory)
  • Deep understanding of Linux administration and scripting
  • Understanding of network protocols, DNS, load balancing
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Experience with Spark and Kafka (basic knowledge)
  • Ability to work as an independent contractor for a US company
