The role sits within GoodLeap's Consumer Solutions Business Unit, where you'll be instrumental in redefining how homeowners interact with sustainable home solutions. As a Principal Engineer, you'll lead the architectural design and implementation of AI-powered features that drive personalized, secure, and scalable experiences across mobile and web platforms.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $202,000 - $237,000, plus potential for bonus and equity compensation. The role can be performed remotely or from several office locations across the US, providing flexibility while working on meaningful technology that impacts environmental sustainability.
Key technical aspects include working with LLMs, vector databases, and embedding stores, while utilizing technologies like Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS services. You'll be responsible for building sophisticated AI-enhanced features and mentoring other engineers, making this an ideal role for someone who combines technical expertise with leadership abilities.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of backend development experience, with significant exposure to AI/ML solutions. Responsibilities For Principle Software Engineer-AI
- Design and lead backend architecture that supports AI/ML-powered features across mobile and API surfaces
- Own end-to-end technical strategy for embedding LLMs, embedding stores, and personalized content delivery
- Partner with product and design to scope features, validate feasibility, and ensure execution
- Build tools and services to help other team members experiment and ship AI-enhanced features
- Influence engineering standards and promote excellence in observability, performance, and security
- Mentor engineers across teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners
Requirements For Principle Software Engineer-AI
- 10+ years of experience in backend development, with at least 2+ years working with AI/ML solutions or LLM
- Experience working with vector databases, embeddings, and semantic search
- Familiarity with MLOps, CI/CD for AI pipelines, and AI observability tools
- Strong experience in Node.js, TypeScript, GraphQL, and REST APIs
- Deep familiarity with AWS architecture
- Experience building and integrating LLM features
- Fluency in system design principles, scalability, reliability, fault-tolerance
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
