Description For Data Center Technician, Technical Operations

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician to join their Technical Operations division. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers their search technology. As a Data Center Technician, you'll be hands-on with server hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance, working with Google's Linux cluster and complex networking components.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge computer technology in Google's data centers. Your responsibilities will include hardware deployment, troubleshooting, security maintenance, and equipment repair. Responsibilities For Data Center Technician, Technical Operations

  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure
  • Maintain the security and integrity of data
  • Disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure

Requirements For Data Center Technician, Technical Operations

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays and shift-based schedule
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with teams
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment
