Description For Electromechanical Rework Technician and Lab Manager, Pixel Watch

Google is seeking an Electromechanical Rework Technician and Lab Manager for their Pixel Watch team. This role is part of the Hardware Testing Engineering team, which ensures the reliability of Google's custom-designed machines. The ideal candidate will have experience in lab management, safety protocols, mechanical and electrical metrology, and prototyping. They will work closely with internal mechanical and electrical engineering teams, driving responsibilities related to prototyping, testing, and data acquisition.

The role involves managing lab operations, conducting safety assessments, assisting with budgeting, supporting engineering teams with hardware rework, and executing test procedures. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and strong technical skills in areas such as PCB rework, fabrication techniques, and electrical measurement equipment.

Google offers a competitive salary range of $81,000-$119,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Responsibilities For Electromechanical Rework Technician and Lab Manager, Pixel Watch

  • Manage logistics for lab operation execution, and work with facilities to secure and equip appropriate laboratory spaces and ensure a safe, secure, and efficient lab.
  • Complete Safety and Risk assessments for compliance with safety standards, ergonomics, and hazard mitigation.
  • Assist with budgeting for lab and team programs, asset management, and periodic equipment calibration/maintenance, external partners/vendors, and more.
  • Support engineering teams by helping with intricate rework of hardware (e.g., prototyping, soldering, wiring, connector installation, printed circuit boards basic assembly, mechanical fabrication, test equipment, drop towers, basic shop equipment, hand tools to perform maintenance, assembly, and setup of fixtures).
  • Execute test procedures and own material readiness, manage bill of materials, test setup, data collection, and publishing of final results by compiling documents and test data.

Requirements For Electromechanical Rework Technician and Lab Manager, Pixel Watch

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, other verifiable training in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in Laboratory Safety Protocols (e.g., Chemicals, Lasers, High Voltage, etc.), Mechanical Metrology (e.g., CAD, Use of calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, Instron, etc.), and Electrical Metrology (e.g., multimeter, O-scope, etc.).
  • Experience managing labs, inventory management, scheduling calibration, and procurement.
