Description For Infrastructure Support Engineer, Sovereign Operations

Google is seeking an Infrastructure Support Engineer for their Sovereign Operations team in London. This role focuses on operating and securing private cloud services for customers with high security requirements. As the first point of contact for technical issues, you'll troubleshoot and resolve incidents across private cloud workloads, acting as a bridge between customers and internal Google teams. The position requires strong technical expertise in Linux systems, networking, and cloud technologies, particularly GCP. You'll be responsible for maintaining service reliability, participating in 24/7 on-call rotations, and collaborating with various Google teams to resolve complex issues. The role offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge cloud technology while ensuring the highest standards of security and customer service. The ideal candidate should have experience in technical support or systems administration, with knowledge of automation and scripting. Responsibilities For Infrastructure Support Engineer, Sovereign Operations

  • Monitor and support queues, troubleshoot and resolve customer issues as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other Google teams in the United Kingdom (UK) Sovereign Operations, as well as wider Google Cloud Engineering teams, to resolve complex issues
  • Respond and take action from platform alerts as necessary, and suggest and run continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the development and evolution of Service Desk processes
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for incident response escalation within response SLA

Requirements For Infrastructure Support Engineer, Sovereign Operations

Linux
Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in Technical Customer Support, IT Operations, or Systems Administration
  • Experience with supporting Linux operating systems, networking, scripting and automation, and application troubleshooting
  • Security Check (SC) level Security Clearance, and a willingness to attain Developed Vetting (DV)
