Description For Product Engineer, ARM Servers and Storage Systems

Google's Manufacturing Operations team seeks a Product Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure division, focusing on ARM Servers and Storage Systems. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining Google's powerful computing infrastructure, one of the largest in the world. The position involves working with custom-designed equipment and ensuring manufacturing processes are optimized and controlled.

As a Product Engineer, you'll be responsible for evaluating product designs and creating processes, tools, and procedures that support Google's infrastructure. You'll work closely with vendors during parts manufacturing, ensuring processes are repeatable and controlled. Collaboration with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers is essential to determine infrastructure needs and product specifications.

The role requires strong expertise in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on server and storage systems. You'll lead Design for Manufacturing (DFx) efforts, work with SMEs, manage product builds, and ensure quality standards are met. The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to Google's global infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Product Engineer, ARM Servers and Storage Systems

  • Lead Design for Manufacturing (DFx) efforts across teams to ensure server/storage designs, process, test, and quality standards are optimized for production
  • Lead and guide SMEs to ensure the product meets our specifications
  • Ensure manufacturing sites are prepared for product builds ahead of time. Provide on site support and lead defect correction efforts post build
  • Work with the Product Quality Engineer to establish product quality and reliability goals. Validate product qualification plans, support product qualification testing, and review product qualification test results
  • Coordinate release of New Product Introduction (NPI) Bill of Materials (BOMs) into Product Data Management (PDM) system. Perform technical review of product changes and assess impact on supply chain

Requirements For Product Engineer, ARM Servers and Storage Systems

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in electrical devices, fabrication processes, Test, DFx, Quality, or reliability engineering
  • Experience working with Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs), Contract Manufacturers (CM) and suppliers to lead root cause analysis, corrective actions and process improvements
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
  • 10 years of experience working at a company developing supply chains, manufacturing and test for new server and storage type products for the IT industry (preferred)
  • Experience in data analytics and quality data systems (preferred)
  • Experience in creating and executing a Design Validation Test Plan on a complex electronic assembly (preferred)
